242	Legal Literacy in Monduli District Tanzania	The ICA Tanzania legal aid clinic is providing legal services to community members particularly women and children in fighting for their property rights after the death of the husband/children in Monduli District	Related to the low level of education there is also a low level of legal literacy. in Monduli district. After the trade liberalization policy there has been a move to increase agricultural activities and lessen pasture areas. Of late there has been an increase of squeezing pastoralists into areas that are non-viable for pastoral land use. Though customary land rights of pastoralist grazing land are still widely recognized but they give no protection against claims of agriculturists. Therefore the situation of land tenure in Monduli is one of the conflicts between the original Maasai population and what they see as intruders on their land. Besides unawareness about their land rights most of the people in Monduli do not know about their legal rights as stated in the constitution.	Tanzania

264	Indigenous Forest Resources Access - Nepal	ICA Nepal organized orientation, training, and the development of case studies for its national level workshop on indigenous communities and their often complex relationship to forests, including 12 recommendations.	With the support of Global Forest Coalition (GFC), ICA Nepal carried out activities that promoted the rights of indigenous communities access to and use of forest resources. It organized orientation, training, and the development of case studies for its national level workshop on indigenous communities and their often complex relationship to forests. During its workshop, ICA Nepal produced 12 recommendations to present to the Nepalese government for immediate consideration. The workshop identified political instability as one of the main underlying causes of rampant deforestation in Nepal. Other resolutions considered giving special care to the culture, skills, and traditions of indigenous populations, providing better education opportunities to local communities, compensating indigenous and ethnic communities for their products, guaranteeing free alternative energy for indigenous and ethnic communities residing in or near forest areas, and new government-led arrangements for cattle raising and grazing. ICA Nepal understands that Nepals rapidly growing population puts great pressure on natural resources. Through Eco-clubs and sustainable agricultural programs, children and adults respectively are encouraged to think about ways to use their environment in a sustainable way. Trees have been planted, and nurseries and kitchen gardens started as a result of this program. 326	The research in villages east of near Turkana Lake in a northern part of Kenya	new project in villages in Loyangarani prefecture in Kenya as the research project for NGO founded by Japan International Forestry Promotion and Cooperation Center,	People in Loyangarani used to be in a serious condition because of long year’s drought. Therefore, ICA placed water pipe lines in this area until April 2013. The water pipe lines help people to access water easily. In addition, villages with the water pipe lines are planting trees. Around 30 years ago, the area around Turkana Lake was a jungle. However, it looks like desert with only a few trees now. Tree can provide several benefits. Therefore, ICA is planning to operate a new project toward Turkana Lake planted many trees, and we hope to once again become a jungle. location -	Kenya

Several varieties of forest trees, fruit trees and medicinal plants are raised and distributed to farmers in our project area. An average of 15,000 plants are raised and planted each year. These four projects support each other. The dairy provides cow dung fertilizer for agriculture and bio gas; agriculture provides fodder for dairy animals; bio-gas slurry is used as fertilizer; and tree plantation provides fodder/feed as well as fruit and wood. 357	Allium School built on mountain top in Haiti	Three engineers firm were contacted in order to submit a proposal for the building construction. They all went to visit the site; for some it was their first time in a rural area at 1000 m altitude.	The school project successfully mobilizes communities. It generated great interest. Eight hundred forty two people had worked in this project either as unskilled labor or semi-qualified workers or technician. In addition this project had also built local capacity to design and monitor actions that addresses the issues tackled by school management plans. Parents especially value new ways to participate in their children education.	Haiti
386	Well Water in Dodja (Ouedo), ICA Benin	Built a big well equipped with energy generator in the village of Dodja (Ouedo) in the district of Abamey Calavi situated at 20 km from Cotonou. This well is used by community members and children of the local primary school.	Completed construction on a sealed pump well in partnership with ICA Benin, a local NGO. We are currently laying pipes to distribute water to a local primary school 1/4 mile from the well. The 240 children that attend this school go 8 hours a day, every day, without any water at all. This will probably be the only clean water they receive all day. Ouedo is a village with 2 previous wells over 50 years old that are dead-in-the-ground. The residents have had to gather unsanitary water from a long distance. This new well is equipped with a generator to help facilitate a large distribution of safe water to the entire community. In order to ensure the sustainability of the well, a monitoring committee of five village members has been created to work with ICA Benin on maintenance and and up-keep.	Benin
