The completed building is being managed by the Monte Grande village, Guatemala as public property. Apart from the above programme, training for preschool teachers and human development training for parents were implemented in 24 villages of the region. </textarea></td>

The average family income per month is US$250. Education level is low, and many children do not even complete primary education. Since 1978, a programme to prevent student dropout has been carried out in this village by ICA . In 1996, ICA constructed a new pre-school building to accomodate all the pupils including 25 new ones. The completed building is being managed by the Monte Grande village as public property. Apart from the above programme, training for preschool teachers and human development training for parents were implemented in 24 villages of the region. Lifelines and infrastructure also received catastrophic damage. In addition to food distribution by ICA, one school was constructed in the city of Petit Guave, and a second elementary school was constructed on top of the mountain. Japan Platform and the Hyogo Disaster Relief Haiti recruitment committee supported these urgent needed activities. </textarea></td>

During that month, the staff worked on the second cycle of chicken farms, set up a vinyl house, and maintained the palm plantations. </textarea></td>

For other villages they have to await the results of the Presidential elections to pass control of their chicks.
The vegetable farm program continues with a vinyl house and the construction of greenhouses in two other villages. The first plants are growing well and the pumpkins have been in bloom. At agroforestry beneficiaries, they are in full preparation for the growing of beans and the installation of netting to protect the palm seedlings against rodents.
We had a training session in community development, that was given by Mr. Wayne Ellesworth of ICA Japan, from September 9 to 14. This was given to the beneficiaries to help them form an action plan, and to see that they can plan their own future activities through their willingness to make a change in their community. </textarea></td>
